Obituary: Ralph Franklin "Junior" Butler, Jr., 56, of Kannapolis passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center from work related injuries. His funeral will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 25 at Unity United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Whittington and Rev. Carl Settle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, July 24 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Ralph "Junior" was born September 30, 1959 in Iredell Co., the son of the late Ralph Sr. and Jackie Yow Butler. His was a life-long area resident and active member of Unity UMC, serving in many positions. "Junior" was a senior electrician at Freightliner, working there 27 years. In earlier years Junior enjoyed working for Alan Kulwicki NASCAR race team. He loved to spend time at the lake with his boys, boating and fishing. He loved grilling and ice cream. Junior was a devoted father, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his 3 sons; James "Robbie" Butler, Hunter Lee Butler and Noah Jay Butler, all of Kannapolis, his sisters; Linda Walter and Sandra Thompson (Gilbert), both of Mooresville and many nieces and nephews.
