Obituary: Mr. Ralph Lonnie "J.R." Lyman, Jr, 68, of Kannapolis passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, Concord. Death was unexpected. He was born September 29, 1942 in Mecklenburg County, NC a son of the late Ralph Lonnie Lyman, Sr. and the late Gladys Victoria Lambert Lyman.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lee Lyman who was killed in action while serving in Vietnam.He had formerly owned and operated J.R. and Dot Sheetrock Sanding with his late wife for many years. He was a member of the Universal House of Prayer in Concord. He was a veteran of US Army. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 9, 2011at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted Rev. Willis Parrish. The family will greet friends following the memorial service.He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Johnson Lyman, who died May 18, 2011He is survived by two daughters, Alicia Lyman of Big Bear, California, and Delena Mauney of Gastonia, two stepsons, Jimmy Rhinehardt of Kannapolis and Jerry Rhinehardt of Concord, a Sister, Shirley Strother of Kannapolis, loving grandchildren and great grandchildren and his canine companion "Shadow".Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Lyman.
