Obituary: Randy Dean Christy, age 59, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a short illness. He was born August 3, 1953 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of Kenneth Dean Christy and the late Dorothy Roberson Christy. He was a 1971 graduate of A.L. Brown High School and attended Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Dean was a maintenance supervisor for ten years having worked at various businesses including Huntersville Apartments and David Drye Apartments. Prior to that time, he worked as a mortgage consultant, a salesman at K-Town Furniture, worked at the Pizza Hut in Cornelius for Day Enterprises, and served as manager at various Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants in the Kannapolis area. He is fondly remembered by many in his earlier years as owner & operator of the former Chix Restaurant, a local eatery. Dean was founder and organizer of the Share Cabarrus Festival in Concord for many years. He also was a member of the former Kannapolis JayCee's. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Concord Christian Church, 301 Davidson Highway, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Jeff Hugas. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the memorial service. Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Karen Fisher Christy; his children, Adam, Evan, and Carmen Christy; one grandchild, Blake Christy; two sisters, Dee Shuping and Dale McDade; two brothers, Dennis Christy and Doug Christy; two nieces; and two nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Concord Christian Church, 301 Davidson Highway, Concord, NC 28027.
