Randy L. Goins

Obituary: Landis, NC- Randy L. Goins, age 61, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 3, 2013 while working in Monroe, NC. He was born in Cabarrus County, the son of Roy Conard Goins and Betty Hill Goins. He was a 1969 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Randy was employed with Terminix Commercial, a division based in Columbia, SC. For more than 20 years he was the North Carolina licensed, contract manager assigned to Phillip-Morris U.S.A.'s Cabarrus operation in Concord, NC. He is remembered as a devoted husband and father, who demonstrated unrestrained love for his wife, son and extended family, and gave the full measure of himself at home, work and leisure activities. He was respected and loved by many outside the family circle, and and fully enjoyed those he called friends. To his wife, he was her grounding force, an example of strength, patience, and grace, always confident even in turbulent times, because of their bond. He was an athlete, who was an All Conference high school baseball player, well-known local softball shortstop, avid golfer and UNC-Chapel Hill sports fan. Randy will be remembered and immeasurably missed. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Monday, January 7, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. James Matchette. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. The family will be at the home of his parents, 208 S. Rose Avenue, Kannapolis, NC the remainder of the time. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rita Hudson Goins; his son, Randall "Scott" Goins & wife, Liz of the Netherlands; three brothers, Chris Goins & wife, Susan of Kannapolis, NC, Eric Goins of Stony Point, NC, and Trent Goins & wife, Tonia of Salisbury, NC; two nephews, Marcus and Garrett Goins.
