Ransom Cooledge Brown

Obituary: Ransom Cooledge Brown (Rance), 94, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Brown was born on May 13, 1924 in Wilkes County NC, to the late Ambrose Floyd Brown and Ollie Watson Brown. He retired from Cannon Mills after many years of service. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 30 years where he served as a deacon. He was proud to have been honored by his church family with the title of deacon emeritus. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing his bountiful crops with his many family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time at his family homestead in the mountains of NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Peggy Christy Brown, an infant son, his brothers and sisters; Ruby Watson, Iva Smith, Imogene Collins, Cleatus Faulkenberry, Wilma Adams, Ila Adams, Lelia Warren, Alice Key, Ambrose Junior Brown, Hamp Brown, Russell Brown, Fred Brown, Florence Houck, Cora Reavis and Belle Lovette. He is survived by his three children, son Tim Brown of Davidson, daughters Cindy Tovornik and husband Jim of Davidson, and Karen Brown of Davidson; his two beloved grandsons Chris Tovornik and wife Jade of Salisbury and Andrew Tovornik and partner Samantha of Mooresville; two sisters Irene Moose of China Grove and Ruth Holbrook of Charlotte. In addition, he was excited to be welcoming his first great-granddaughter to the world in the upcoming month. The service for Mr. Brown will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 14th at Calvary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Beasley and Rev. R.J. Hammond. Burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends 11:00 to 1:00 at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 933 Louise Avenue, Suite 101B, Charlotte, NC 28204 or to the Hearing Aid Project, 1912 East Meyer Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64132
Visitation: 11:00 to 1:00 PM, Saturday July 14, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church, Kannapolis.

Service: 1:00 PM, Saturday July 14, 2018 Calvary Baptist Church.

Interment: West Lawn Memorial Park China Grove, NC.
