Ray Hope Maples, 91, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2021.
Ray was born on September 7, 1929 in Lockhart, SC to the late S.R. Maples and Grace Townsend Maples.
Ray spent his career as a freelance CPA. He was a faithful member of the former Kilgo United Methodist Church in Charlotte over 35 years, where he taught Sunday School. He was an avid gardener, and looked forward to gardening season every year. He also honorably served his country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 59 years, Delsie Lawing Maples; brother-in-law, John (Valerie) Dayvault Jr., and nephew, John (Beverly) Dayvault III, who will all miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Dennis Morgan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church, 7386 Lockhart Rd., Sharon, SC 29742.
