Obituary: Concord, NC Ray R. Cripps, 67, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 7, 2013 at CMC-NE in Concord. His funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 13 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with Chaplain Lonnie Clouse officiating. The family will be receiving friends in the Annex Chapel from 1 to 2:00 PM Thursday prior to the funeral. Ray was born November 10, 1945 in Newark, NJ, a son of the late William and June Rafferzeder Cripps. Ray was a veteran of 9 year's service in the US Navy, during Vietnam War, as a submariner. Then he was an over the road trucker driving for North American and United Van Lines, NASCAR and then Joel Swain Trucking. He was proud of a driving career that spanned over 4 decades and 5 million plus miles. Ray is remembered as a generous man, who never met a stranger. He was a loving and devoted family man and will be deeply missed. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Carrie C. Goforth (Terry) of Hernando FL, his son Jordan Cripps (Janessa) of Chico CA., his grandchildren include Christopher Goforth, Jacque Howard, Victoria Goforth, Steven Goforth and Samuel Goforth and great-grandchildren include Ian, Erin, Aislynn, Italia and Novia. He is also survived by his brothers; Bill Cripps (Judy) of Kennesaw GA, Frank Cripps (Debbie) of Maple Shade NJ, Andy Cripps (Sandy) of Dublin OH and Phil Cripps of Gig Harbor WA and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved Chihuahua, "Pookie Bear".
