Reba Whitaker Day

Obituary: Reba Kite Whitaker Day, 91, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Thursday, January 25, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born June 18, 1926 in Cabarrus County to the late John H. Kite and Mae K. Thompson Kite. Reba was a member of Shady Brook Baptist Church where she volunteered at the food pantry and belonged to the Women's Circle. She was an amazing seamstress, loved traveling with her girlfriends, and enjoyed league bowling. Reba was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by two husbands: W. J. "Jay" Whitaker and Robert Day. She was also preceded by Mary Brown (Burgess). Those left to cherish her memory are six children: Patricia Hollar (Dan) of Rockwell, Diane Dolton of Kannapolis, Avery Whitaker (Grace) of Kannapolis, Kathy Fincher (Keith) of Kannapolis, Myron Whitaker of Kannapolis, Jeff Whitaker of China Grove. Three step children: David Day (Nga) of Mint Hill, Diana Day (Phil) of Charlotte, Robin Day of Atlanta. One daughter-in-law Linda Day of Marshville. Thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, Johnsie Dunlap (Joe) of Mooresville and Edna Steen (Gerald) of Kannapolis. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 28 at Shady Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Littlejohn officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, January 27 at Whitley's Funeral Home and also 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
