Rebecca “Ann” Holmes Stephens, 87, of Kannapolis, Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Ann was born on June 3, 1937 in Iredell County. She was the cherished daughter of the late W.F Holmes and Ethel Benge Sharpe. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zane Stephens; daughter, Vickie Stephens Renegar; son, Ronald “Ron” Stephens; grandson, Ryan Renegar; stepfather, Frank Sharpe; and sisters, Norma Ballard and Helen Hendley.
A true social butterfly, Ann had the rare gift of connecting with anyone she met. Her vibrant personality and warm heart made her a friend to all. Ann could talk to anyone, turning strangers into friends with her kindness and charm.
For 27 years, Ann worked at K-Mart in the jewelry department, where she was known for her expertise, dedication, and her genuine care for her customers. She treated every customer like family, and her positive energy brightened the store every day.
Grateful for the little things, Ann always expressed appreciation for every gesture, no matter how small. She loved her family deeply, and her devotion to them was unwavering. She never missed a birthday, always sending cards filled with love and joy to remind her grandchildren how special they were. She would often end her conversations with the simple but powerful words, "I love you," a reminder of the love she carried in her heart.
Her constant companion was her beloved cat, Lucky, whom she adored. Ann will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deborah Stephens Gurley (Bryan); son, Michael “Zane” Stephens; grandchildren, Chad Stephens (Suzanne), Scott Gurley, Kris Gurley (Kristin), Seth Stephens, Luke Stephens, Jason Michaels, and Courtney Creger (Corey); she was also blessed with 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at 2:00pm in Whitley’s Chapel with Pastor Doug Hardin Officiating. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
