Rebecca Drake Bishop

Rebecca Ann Drake Bishop, 88, of Concord, peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, February 26, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House. 

Born August 19, 1936, in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Lee Austin Drake, Sr and Beulah Mae Graham Drake. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jearl Bishop, in 1990; her brothers, LA, Jr., Wade, Herby, Jim, Ray, Donnie and Bob Drake; and her sisters, Virginia Mahaffey, Pauline Jones, Ruby Shoemaker and Sue Donaldson.

 Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Alan K. Bishop (Buddy), numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends. Although in a much better place today, Mrs. Bishop will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

 Rebecca was a 1954 graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, marrying Jearl Bishop in 1956. She had retired from The Compass Group of Charlotte, where she was payroll supervisor. She was also a member of Gateway Baptist Church and a fifty-year member of Order of Eastern Star. 

 The family will receive friends Sunday, March 2nd, from 1:00-2:30 at Gateway Baptist Church, with a memorial celebration service to begin at 2:30 in the church, conducted by Pastor Hugh Foy. Inurnment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park at a later date, where Mrs. Bishop will be placed to rest with her husband.
