Obituary: China Grove: Rebecca J. "Purple Princess" White, 51, of 140 Sandalwood Lane, China Grove died Wednesday July 29, 2009 at her home following a period of declining health. She was born April 8, 1958 in Mecklenburg County the daughter of Donald Johnson and his wife Sharon of Grand Island, Nebraska and Nina Little Sperling of Kannapolis. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Kannapolis. She was a caregiver that touched the lives of many through her compassion. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday August 1, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Darrell Coble. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband Eric Lynn White, two daughters: Erica Lynn White and husband Matthew of China Grove and Melissa Rebecca Gulledge and husband James of Salisbury, four grandchildren: Blake and Bryce White, and Tanner and Madalynn Gulledge, 3 sisters: Lisa Hannon of Gold Hill, Debbie Foy of Virginia, and Beth Blackwelder of Landis, a half-brother: Brad Sperling of Columbia, SC, her mother-in-law Juanita Bostian White of China Grove, brother-in-law Ronnie White of Concord and a special friend Renee Crosby Bagley of Monroe.
