Reid Mcconnell, Iii

Reid McConnell, III, 65 of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2021 at his residence. Death was unexpected.

Reid was born March 5, 1956 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Felix Reid McConnell, Jr. and Marion Louise Groce McConnell Nickelson.

Reid was a professional painter for many years. He love NASCAR and was a favorite nephew of his uncle, “Fireball” Roberts. He was always interested in following current events.

He loved nature; including canoeing and camping. He was a very caring person who was dearly loved by his family.

There will be a private memorial service to celebrate his life at a later date.

Family members left to cherish his memory are one brother, Carl Nickelson and wife Annette of Kannapolis, a half-brother, C.J. Nickelson, Jr. and wife Delane of Landis, two sisters, Becki Barnhardt of Kannapolis and Kathi Strader and husband rick of Reidsville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews along with a special niece Angela Banker and husband Mike of Mt. Holly, NC.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, P.O. Box 20986, Roanoke, VA 24018.
