Reid Patterson

Obituary: Virgil "Reid" Patterson, 69, of China Grove, peacefully passed away Saturday evening, November 11, 2017. Born January 14, 1948 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Floyd Martin and Hettie Watts Patterson. Mr. Patterson had retired after 17 years of service from Fred Hight Builders Inc. of Louisburg. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved his family and adored all of his grandchildren. Reid enjoyed gardening, growing tomatoes and loved to hunt with his best friend, Bobby Spillman. He loved his horses and enjoyed fishing, especially at the Outer banks. A devoted friend, he loved gospel music and knew all about the Gaither's and their songs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family members left with cherished memories include his wife, Cathy Patterson; his children Robert Darrin Patterson (Tara), Amy Patterson and Ashley Galliher (Josh); his step children Tommy Battiato (Dana) and Tina Shafer; his much loved grandchildren Matthew, Emma, Lauren, Jaidyn, Brooklynn, Laney, Austyn, Rylee, Luca, Nolan and Julia; his sisters Doris Brown (Butch), Susan Hutchins (Rob Rodman) and Lynn Borden (David), and nieces and nephews. To remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Patterson, the family will receive friends Thursday, November 16th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home.
