Obituary: Rev. Eddie Lee Black, 69, of Concord died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center following a period of declining health. He was born February 10, 1942 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Zellie and Inez Little Black. He was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Pheiffer College, and received his Master of Divinity Degree from Emory University in Atlanta. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Midway United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Dave Cash, pastor. Internment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday. At other times they will be at the residence. Rev. Black served his seminary appointments at Matton's Grove-Zion Church in Misenheimer and Center Grove- St. Paul's in Concord. He later served pastorates at Mt Hermon in Madison, NC, Cramerton UMC, Denver UMC, First Methodist of Norwood until his retirement due to disability in 2002. He was a member of Allen-Graham Lodge # 695 AF&AM. He is survive by his wife of 47 years: Brenda Freeman Black, two sisters, Jo Ann Shaw, and Nancy Smith of Kannapolis, nieces and nephews: Scott Nicholson, Sabrina (Robert) Britt, Cheri Allen, Stacie ( Jason) Dry, Tabatha (Andy) Austin, Leslie Nicholson and one nephew who predeceased him, Rodney Ashby. Sisters-in-Law, Sylvia Ashby- Concord, Sandra (Sammy) Barlene Lewis of China Grove, Mother-in- Law, Margie Rodgers Dennis and six great nieces and nephews.
