Rev. Priscilla "Phred" Karen Jansson Causey

Obituary: Rev. Priscilla "Phred" Causey , age 54 of China Grove died October 28, 2014 at CMC-NE in Concord after a period of declining health. Phred was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania on March 25, 1960. She and Mark met while attending Catawba College in the late 70's and married September 26, 1981. She attended additional classes through the United Church of Christ over a number of years and graduated with the first class of this program for Pastors. Phred worked closely with the children's program at Shiloh UCC as director, then assistant pastor, then supply pastor for several years. She became pastor at St. Paul's UCC in 2006 and enjoyed the gift of helping others. Phred would minister to anyone in need at the hospitals, nursing homes, and in the area. Phred was a member of Bostian Heights Fire Department as a First Responder for 10 years. Phred was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Jansson and Jane Strohmetz Jansson She is survived by husband, Mark Causey of China Grove, her son, Matthew Causey (Sarah), and their children Rileah, Aubrey, Mikalyn, Cannon, and Emmett of Faith, and her daughter, Amanda Causey and her children Malcolm and Mackenzie of High Point. Phred is also survived by her sisters; Dolores Jansson Bernhardt (Mike) of Raleigh, Diane Jansson McGrath (Bill) of Hammonton, NJ and her brothers; Eric Jansson (Nan) of Roswell, GA, Robby Jansson of St. Augustine, FL, Peter Jansson (Megan) of Lewisburg, PA and many loving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate life will be Saturday, November 1st at 3pm at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 811 N. Enochville Ave. in the Enochville community. Burial will be at a later time. Family will welcome friends in the fellowship hall directly after services. The service will be officiated by Margot Pickett, on staff with Southern Conference of United Church of Christ. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Rowan Helping Ministries, 226 N Long St, Salisbury, NC 28144.
