Rev. Maxine Love Edwards

Obituary: Rev. Maxine Love Edwards, 76, of Midland died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Morningside Assisted Living, Concord. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Tom Whidden and Pastor Phil Bennett officiating and music provided by Pastor Steve Hargett and her grandchildren, The Edwards Family. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Maxine was born September 18, 1938 in Danbury, NC, a daughter of the late Rev. James Lloyd Love and the late Mae Elizabeth Gasa Love. She was a licensed minister within the Assemblies of God Church, in the NC District Council. Maxine was a member of Concord First Assembly where she was instrumental in beginning the Specialized Ministries and was active singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and conducting chapel services at The Living Center. Her family will always remember her as a faithful servant of her Lord, Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Love and her son, Mitch Edwards. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 57 years, Joe Edwards of the home, her sons; Rev. Keith Edwards (Anita) of High Point, Dale Edwards (Connie) of Salisbury and Mike Edwards (Diane) of Charlotte, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, her brother, Harold Love (Mel) of Chapel Hill and her sisters; Betty Hunsucker of Charlotte and Dorothy Gerner of Indianapolis IN and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family is so appreciative of the loving care she received from Morningside of Concord and Hospice for the loving care they extended to Maxine.
