Rev. James G. (John) Haas

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Rev. James Garfield (John) Haas, age 94, celebrated his home-going on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at The Haven at Highland Creek, Charlotte, NC. Rev. Haas was born June 21, 1918 in Granite Falls, NC, the son of the late Luther P. Haas and Maude Teague Haas. John served as minister of the Gospel for more than 50 years. During his ministry , he served churches throughout North Carolina including Lakewood Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church, both in Kannapolis as well as churches in Mt. Gilead, NC; Rockingham, NC; High Point, NC; Lumberton, NC; Shelby, NC; and Newton, NC. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Sue Colleen Haas; and two sons, Michael Gene Haas and Jerry Wayne Haas. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Dr. Tom Patterson, Rev. Robert Howard, and Rev. Josh Hughes. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Left to cherish his memories are two daughter, Carolyn Allen of Kannapolis, NC and Deborah Troutman & husband, Chris of Charlotte, NC; his son, Roger Haas & wife, Kathy of Kannapolis, NC; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
