Obituary: Rev. Charles Wesley Hardin, age 84, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at CMC-Main, Charlotte, NC. For some time, he had resided at the White Oak Manor in Charlotte, NC. Charles was born August 18,1928 in Forest City, NC, the son of the late Ernest Perry Hardin and Alice Esmer Sprouse Hardin. He had eleven siblings with five of them surviving, Evelyn Pennington, Delores Hardin Kiser, Donald Hardin, Gaines Hardin, and Faye Hardin. Also surviving is his wife, Bernice Tilley Hardin; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at the National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Charles attended Lee College and was a pastor for the Mission of Hope for years. He was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Army where he had served as a Chaplain and was stationed in Germany after the war. He was active in serving others in his community. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorials or donations to be made to the Mission of Hope, P.O. Box 240352, Charlotte, NC 28224 or the charity of their choice.
