Obituary: Rev. Larry Michael Heath "Pastor Larry", 73 went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 7, 2013 surrounded by his family at the Tucker Hospice House. Pastor Larry was born March 22, 1940 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late P. Michael Heath and Evola J. Heath. He went to John W. Haynes High School in Winston-Salem; was a graduate from Wake Forrest University; received his Master Degree in Religious Education from South Western Baptist Theology Seminary in Forth Worth, TX; and later went to Emerge Counseling Ministries in Akron, Ohio. Pastor Larry worked on staff at Concord First Assembly for 30 years; he went on staff January 1, 1976 and retired in 2006. He was the first full time music pastor for 8 years and later he was over Marriage and Family Counseling. He served previous to that 7 Southern Baptist churches in North Carolina, Texas, and Georgia. Pastor Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years Betsy Heath of the home; two sons, L. Michael Heath, Jr. of Kannapolis, and James David Heath of Concord; six grandchildren, Carson Heath, Weston Heath, McKinley Heath, Bryan Heath (Kendra), Andrew Heath, and Aaron Heath; one great granddaughter, Sophia Heath; two brothers, Jack Heath of Greensboro, NC and Gary Heath of Texas; He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Heath. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Concord First Assembly Main Campus with Pastor Tom Whidden, Dr. Sid Fortney, Rev. Preston Parrish, and Dr. Rick Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday evening at Concord First Assembly Main Campus.
