Obituary: Concord, NC- Rev. Grady Lomax, age 83, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at his home after one year of declining health.He was born October 6, 1928 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late James Dolphus Lomax and Bertie Brigman Lomax. In earlier years Grady was a truck driver for over 35 years having worked for Akers Motor Lines, P.I.E., and Consolidated Freight over that time. He was also a Baptist minister having served various churches over the years. In later years he was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC and had served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher.A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. A memorial celebration service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Memorial Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Tim McQueen and Scott White. The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the Family Life Center.Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Shue Lomax; a daughter, Gradetta Lomax Newsome of Kannapolis, NC; two sons, John Grady Lomax of New London, NC and Joel Stephen Lomax of Rockwell, NC; a twin brother, Brady Lomax of Concord, NC; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.On-line condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
