Obituary: Rev. Howard D. Torrence "Well done thou good and faithful servant." Surrounded by his family at the Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, NC, Rev. Howard D. Torrence, 83, heard his Savior's call to come home as the sun began to set on Monday afternoon, February 18, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, James Torrence, Lucy and John Isenhour, his brother, James Jr., and a grandson, Shane Torrence. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanette Fortson Torrence, children, Sherry (David) Walters of Statesville, Drew (Lynn) Torrence of China Grove, James (Tami) Torrence and Jeremy (April) Torrence of Denver, NC., 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Davis of Kannapolis and many brother and sister-in-laws as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be conducted at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Billy Carey and Rev. David Walters. The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks for the wonderful, loving care provided by Dr. Ahmed Elnagger, the nursing staff of Davis Regional Medical Center of Statesville, Dr. Andrews and the nursing staff of Gordon Hospice House for the blessing they were to our loved one as well as to the family.
