Reverend Feaster "Bryson" Bigby

Reverend Feaster “Bryson” Bigby, 91, of Concord, went to his heavenly home on December 24, 2020 after a period of declining health.

Born June 10, 1929 in Honea Path, SC. Bryson was a son of the late Willie Bigby and Myrtle Grubb Ludwick. In addition to his parents Bryson is preceded in death by his daughter Donna Bigby Foust and sisters, Verona Swicegood, Betty Jean Smith, Alta Gill, Juanita Norris, and Louise Walser.

Bryson had a strong relationship with the Lord. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Early in life he enlisted in the Army Air Force, 4th Air Supply Squad on July 11, 1946. He received the World War II Victory Medal and Army Occupational Medal in Japan, later being honorably discharged on May 9, 1949.  Bryson was a barber who attended Winston Salem Barber College becoming licensed on Nov. 28, 1959. A year later in he became ordained on Sept. 18 1960. He attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute, graduating March 1, 1963, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary on May 7, 1965, and Anson Technical on Jan. 22, 1980. Bryson Pastoral experience includes organizing a  mission at Tyro Baptist Church, preaching at many churches including Elam Baptist Church in  Gumberry, NC;  Bethel Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, NC; East Corinth Baptist Church in Gold Hill, NC; Broadus Memorial Baptist Church in Concord, NC; First Baptist Church in West End, NC; Cottonville Baptist Church  Cottonville,NC and Van Horn Baptist Church, WV.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 67 years Frances E. Allmon Bigby of the home, daughter Debra Kiser (Randy) of Concord, Son Archie Bryson Bigby of the home, daughter Rachel Helms (Ricky) of New Salem, Sister Ann Weaver of Linwood; grandchildren Jessica Hicks of Harrisburg, Amber Summerlin of Rockwell, and Cody Bigby of Concord; great- grandchildren Lily, Chloe, Aubrey, Noah Proctor, Savannah and Ashlyn Hicks.

Memorial Service will be held 1:00 P.M.  Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Concord. Service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Mayfield and Pastor Joe Kirkpatrick. Visitation will be held one- hour prior starting at 12:00 P.M. Interment will directly follow at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
