Rev. Joseph Marion Fulk Jr.

Rev. Joseph Marion Fulk Jr., 77, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

He was born on April 16, 1947 in Surry County, NC to the late Rev. Joseph Marion Fulk Sr. and Lucy Creed Fulk, who survives.

Rev. Joseph Fulk Jr. honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from May 1966 to 1968. He then became an airline pilot for Piedmont Airlines. He attended Pfeiffer University and followed his calling into ministry at Emory School of Theology where he obtained his Master of Divinity. He leaves a legacy of faithful service to the Lord as a Methodist Minister, having served numerous appointments in the Western NC Conference.

He was a man with a heart of gold who could joke around and make others laugh. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop wood-working. He loved to make ornaments and pens as gifts. He enjoyed spending time outside, playing golf, taking trips to the beach, snow skiing, and playing Pollyanna. He was avid fan of Duke basketball. Most of all, he dearly loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 48 years, Dianne Benfield Fulk; two sons, Rev. Joseph Marion Fulk III and wife Elaine, Baron Alexander Fulk and wife Maureen; seven grandchildren, Cammie Fulk, Makayla Fulk, Lucy Fulk, Joseph Marion Fulk IV, Anna-Grace Fulk, Lillian Christie and Riley Christie; brother, Colon Fulk and wife Pam, and two sisters, Ann Newsome and husband Ronnie, and Pepper Triplet and husband, Jon.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Mt. Mitchell Church with Rev. Joel Locklear, Rev. Dr. Tony Bell, and Rev. Caroll Flack officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends after the burial in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Garden City Chapel by the Sea or Men for Missions.
