Obituary: China Grove - Mr. Richard Franklin Hagler, 63, of 126 Crystal Creek Drive died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at his residence. He had been in declining health but death was unexpected. He was born March 6, 1946 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Robert and Ellie Griggs Hagler. He was a truck driver for R&L trucking company for a number of years until his retirement due to ill health. He was a member of New Hope Independent Baptist Church in Concord. He loved to play golf and was an avid Tar Heel fan. He was educated in the Mecklenburg County Schools. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a Grandchild, Dustin Wayne Hager, three Sisters: Ethel Hunt, Barbara Safrit, and Juanita Wyatt. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at New Hope Independent Baptist Church, 555 Neisler Road, Concord, conducted by Rev. Roger Bostic, and Rev. Orville Messer. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to final rites. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Monday 6-8:00 P.M. At other times the family will be at the residence. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Patricia Ann Hagler of the Home. One Son: Franklin Keith Hagler of Denton, Four Daughters: Patty Ogle of Kings Mt., Tammy Lynn Turner of Kannapolis, Sandra Jean Workman of Asheville, and Misty Kicinski of Kannapolis. Two Brothers: Mickey Hagler of Gaffney, SC, and Melvin Hagler of Blacksburg, SC. Three Sisters: Donna Cross and Linda Mann both of Kannapolis and Bobbie Masingo of South Carolina.
