Richard David Joplin, Sr.

Obituary: Richard David Joplin, Sr, 53, of 1199 Brandon Scott Lane, China Grove went home to Jesus at his residence on January 7, 2010 following a period of declining health. Richard was born January 14, 1956 in Chesterfield County, SC the son of Leona Gregory Fink of China Grove and the late David Sherman Joplin, Sr. Prior to becoming disabled he was employed in automotive sales and repair for 16 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Steve Sprinkle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. In addition to his mother, he is survived by five sisters: Kathy Atkinson and Joyce Simmons, both of China Grove, Margaret Brown of Monroe, Jackie Gantt of Rockwell, and Kathy Fink of Kannapolis. Two Brothers: Charles and Randy Joplin both of China Grove. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a Brother: David Sherman Joplin, Jr. Memorials may be made to Rowan Regional Home Health and Hospice, 720 Grove Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
