Richard Lloyd Stamey

Richard (Rick) Lloyd Stamey, 72 of Kannapolis, following a period of declining health, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Rick was under the care of Hospice and Palliative care of Cabarrus County, and passed in the residence of his oldest son.

Rick was born March 29, 1948 in Iredell County. He is the son of the late Harold and Josephine Stamey.

Rick loved playing golf and softball and enjoyed all things sports. Rick taught Sunday School for many years and was of the Baptist Faith.

Prior to his decline in health, Rick retired after more than 30 years in the insurance business.

Family members left to cherish Rick’s memory include his wife, Alice Smith Stamey of Kannapolis and six children: Ron Stamey of Kannapolis, Richie (Niki) Stamey of Salisbury, Ryan Stamey of Charlotte, Jason Stamey (Ryan Powers) of Los Angeles, California, Ashlyn Stamey of Concord, and Anthony Stamey of Charlotte. His siblings; Dennis (Carol) Stamey of Myrtle Beach, Sheila (Wayne, predeceased) Reid. Rick had 4 grandchildren; Noah Stamey, Logan Stamey, Lauren and Megan Kesler, and two great grandchildren Lucas Pope, and Aaliyah Kesler.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The service will be conducted by Rev. Lewis Whittington from First Baptist Church of Enochville. The family will speak with friends following the graveside service. Please attend, but we ask you to be respectful and practice social distancing during this time.

In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a local food bank or purchase a meal for a first responder or healthcare worker.
