Ricky Carl Jones

Ricky Carl Jones, 66, of Kannapolis passed away on Monday June 10, 2024, at the W.G. Bill Heffner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.

Ricky was born on December 11, 1957, in Genesee County Michigan to the late Archie Alvin Jones and the late Virginia Frances Nichols Jones.

Ricky served his country for 18 years in the USMC where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He worked as a truck driver for over 30 years and had retired from Overcash Grading Service.  Ricky loved people and loved being around people, he was always more concerned with helping others than himself.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved to shoot pool and work on vehicles.

In addition to his parents Ricky was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harold and Dean Jones and a sister- in- law; Michelle Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Deborah Jones, daughter, Teresa Slater and husband D.J., son; Jeremy Griffin, daughters; Tammy Hunt and husband Jeremy, James Griffin and wife Diana, sister; Janice Roberts and husband Tom, brother; Timmy Jones, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday June 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Whitley’s Funeral Home 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd. Kannapolis, NC  28083.  The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 AM in the Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Craft officiating.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 26, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with Military honors being provided by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard.
