Obituary: Ricky Everett Keller, 54, of Kannapolis left his earthly home for his eternal home on Thursday May 22, 2014 while surrounded by his family after a period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 26 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chuck Overcash officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 25. Ricky was born November 12, 1959 in Iredell Co., a son of the late Plese Everett Keller and Lucille Johnson Keller of Concord. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from NorthWest Cabarrus High School in 1980. Ricky was a member of Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church, where he was active when health allowed, as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, church bus ministry and helped with the tape ministry. In earlier years he was a volunteer with the Winecoff Volunteer Fire Dept., receiving Fireman of the Year in 1992. Ricky drove a bus for Cabarrus Co. Schools for many years. He was an avid hobbyist with RC cars, slot cars and enjoyed fishing. Ricky was a loving husband, son and brother and enjoyed making people laugh up to the end. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his father, Ricky was preceded in death by a brother, David Keller. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Lynn Key Keller of the family home, his mother, Lucille Keller of Concord, his brothers; Randy Keller (Helen) of Kannapolis, Kenneth Keller (Allison) of Salisbury and Dennis Keller (Angie) of China Grove and many nieces and nephews.
