Obituary: Ricky Wayne McCrary, 55, of 10 Meadowview Ave. S.W., died Monday, June 6, 2011 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. He had been in declining health for several months and seriously ill for two weeks.Mr. McCrary was born April 22, 1956 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Troy Roland McCrary, Sr. and the late Elsie Morgan McCrary. Prior to his retirement due to disability he was employed at Shogren Hosiery Mill. He was of the Baptist faith. Ricky enjoyed the outdoors, and wrestling. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Morgan D. McCrary and a granddaughter, Kirsten Burr.Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 9, 2001 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jay D. Smith. Interment will follow at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night 7-9 P.M.at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence. He leaves to keep cherished memories, his wife of 12 years, Crystal McCrary,five sons, Joey Rounds and wife Shorty, Jimmy Wishon, Chuck McCrary, Chris Burr and wife Alisha, and Michael Hamner, two daughters, Angel Mischler and husband Craig, Missie Gendreau and husband Jeremy, one brother, Troy McCrary and wife Barbara.Seven grandchildren; Jacob, Macie, Ethen, Elijah, Meadow, Alexis and Keegan also survive, as well as nieces and nephews.The McCrary family would like to say a special thank you to Dereck Long, a family friend; and Hospice House for their compassionate care during Ricky's illness.Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
