Rita Huffman

Obituary: Rita Ann Huffman, 72, formerly of Gastonia, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at her home in Kannapolis. Rita was born August 27, 1944, a daughter of the late Thad Vance and Anna Belle Carpenter Huffman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons Todd and Robert Owens, and a sister Theda. Mrs. Huffman enjoyed trips to Cherokee with her family and friends. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Loving family members include her daughter Tina Owens (Mike Badger); her sister Linda Butler; brothers Alton Huffman (Grace), Charles Huffman and Steve Huffman (Carolyn); her grandchildren Brandon and Kyle Lovelace, Dustin Burroughs and Krystal Owens; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, June 23rd from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Huffman will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Meghan McSwain, Chaplain. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery in Kannapolis. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
