Obituary: Robert F. Black, 87, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Tucker Hospice House. He was born April 28, 1930 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Curtis Black and Jenny Morrow Black. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Roberts Black, brother, James Black and a step-grandchild, Dustin Lapish. Robert retired from Cannon Mills after 46 years where he worked at the Swink Plant as a supervisor in the spinning department. He was a member of Clermont Freewill Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He was a veteran of the US Marines and the US Army where he had served in the Korean War. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 12, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Leon Simmons. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 prior at Whitley's. He is survived by a daughter, Wanda Elaine Biles (Boyd), son, Bobby Keith Black (Wanda), grandchildren, Brandon, Andrew, Matthew and Kevin Biles, Kathryn Walker, Brianna Black, step grandchildren, Michael and Chris Bradley, greatgrandchildren, Corbyn, Caleb, Mikayla, Hudson, Bryston, step great-grandchildren Mason, Maddison, Chase, Dylan, Elijah and a brother, Grady Black.
