Robert Edward Fisher, 94, formerly of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday morning, December 31, 2020, at Universal Healthcare, following a period of declining health.
Born September 4, 1926, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Robert Dewey and Evvie Lena Lyles Fisher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Nell Barrier Fisher; and his brothers, James Albert Fisher and Daniel Baron Fisher.
Mr. Fisher had honorably served his country with the US Navy during WWII. Retiring after more than 20 years of loyal service from Akers Motor Lines, he continued on as a contract driver, logging more than one million safe driving miles. An active charter member of Concord Bible Church, he loved his Lord, his family and his church family. Mr. Fisher was a firm believer in “to God be the glory”, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Loving family members include his children, Wayne Fisher (Arlene) of Kannapolis, Jerry Fisher of Charlotte and Gaynell Collins of Kannapolis; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and extended family members.
Graveside services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Fisher will begin at 2:00 PM Monday, January 4, 2021, at Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. Tom Sandquist, Pastor, Concord Bible Church. The family will speak with friends following the graveside services.
