Obituary: Concord- Robert Eugene Galyan, 78, passed away at his home Saturday morning, November 25, 2017, following a period of declining health. Born June 1, 1939 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Elmer and Ellie McIntryre Galyan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers J.B., Bill, Jimmy, Richard and Pinkney Galyan and two sisters Pauline Whitley and May Honeycutt. Mr. Galyan had earlier owned and operated Galyan's Fish Camp on Old Charlotte Hwy and later cooked for Troutman's Barbecue for many years. A talented cook, he enjoyed cooking for others. Folks especially enjoyed his famous peanut butter pies. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, Mr. Galyan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family members include his much loved daughters Patricia Honeycutt (David), Regina Lowe (Mic) and Lorri Overcash;his grandchildren Michael Honeycutt (Jamielynn) Jennifer Honeycutt and fiance' James Putorti, Christopher Lowe (Kathleen), Matthew Overcash (Tiffany), Lindsay Lowe and Cassie Childress (Logan);his great-grandchildren Connor Owen, Rachael Elizabeth and Presley Grace Honeycutt; sisters Jonnie Galyan and Ruby Trembley; and his longtime care giver, Cathy. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 29th from 12:00-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Services will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by J.R. Beaver, Pastor.
