Obituary: Kannapolis - Robert Monroe Hager, age 84, passed away at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House on April 22, 2009 He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of John Moore Hager and Mary White Hager. He was an avid fan of sports, especially the Tar Heels of UNC. He was also a former coach of little league football and baseball. Visitation will be at Whitley's Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:30 PM on Friday April 24, 2009. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Chuck Halipilias. Mr. Hager served in the US Army as a military policeman in World War II. He retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills Plant 1 Dye Dept. after 45 years then Wackenhut Security Co. for 11 years. He was a member of the Men's class of Jackson Park United Methodist Church, Woodmen of the World and the VFW Post 8989. Special thanks to all of his Doctors and Nurses who helped and waited on him during his illness. Survivors are his wife of 61 years Perline M. Hager, two daughters: Linda S. Hager of Oceanside, Ca. and Pattie Hager Hilton and husband Steve of Concord, one son: Phillip M. Hager and wife Bonnie of Nashville, NC, four wonderful grandchildren: Chris Jordan, Benjamin Hager and wife Kelly, Brian Hager and wife Kelli, and Kelly Hager Choate, and one greatgrandchild: Madasyn Jordan.
