Robert Allen Harwell

Obituary: Robert Allen "Bobby" Harwell, 76, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, at Five Oaks Manor, surrounded by his loving family. Born October 7, 1942 in Iredell County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Catherine Bradford Harwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth "Ruby" Harwell. Bobby retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 4, after more than 34 years of loyal service and was a member of Gilwood Presbyterian Church. Mr. Harwell enjoyed hunting, fishing, auto racing and farming. Bobby loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family members include his son, Jeff Harwell and wife, Ronda, and his daughter, Judy Shirah; his brother, Bill Harwell and wife, Martha; grandchildren, Brian and Josh Harwell, and Miranda Shirah; and 2 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 17th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Harwell will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, January 18th, at Gilwood Presbyterian Church, conducted by Pastor Nathan Wheeler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
