Robert James Schmidt, Sr.

Obituary: Robert "Bob" James Schmidt, Sr., 68, of China Grove, NC died at his home on Friday, March 10, 2017. Bob was born on May 21, 1948 in Greensburg, PA, a son of the late Emmett Schmidt and the late Dorothy Aultz Schmidt. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a son, Steven Schmidt, a step-daughter, Janice Kerr and four sisters; Sandy Highland, Carol Hilty, Mary Shrum and Ester Schmidt. While Bob was living in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. For many years he was a small appliance repairman and in recent years, with his wife, Patsy, were owner/operators of B & P Antiques of Salisbury, NC. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Southside Church of God conducted by Rev. Mike Oney. The family will receive friends after the service until 5:00 p.m. at the church. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Griffin Schmidt of the home; three sons, Robert "Bobby" J. Schmidt, Jr. (Eleanor) of Charlotte, NC, Harry Jay Schmidt (Donna) of Burlington, NC and Scott Allen Schmidt of Jeannette, PA; two daughters; Renee F. Jones (Gary) of Jeanette, PA. and Malissa Thorpe (Thomas) of Savannah, GA, a step-daughter, Starr Buelin (Joe) of Salisbury, NC, grandchildren; Christopher, Jessica, Chloe, Anthony, Hunter, Mary, Hailey, Jacqueline, Shelby, Lea, Ever and Mackey; four step grandchildren; Jeffrey, Justin, Kerri and Katie; five great-grandchildren; Adisyn, Raygen, Paisley, Bryson and Alley and two sisters, JoAnn Sackette and Emily Feola.
