Robert Alexander Stirewalt, 81, passed away Sunday evening, January 12, 2020, at Tucker Hospice House, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born March 18, 1938 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Will and Agnes Stirewalt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Lee Stirewalt in 2014, and his sister, Martha Stirewalt.
Robert was a 1957 graduate of Landis High School and married the love of his life, Mae Perry, on August 6, 1961. He had worked in textiles for many years, had been involved with the scouts and enjoyed growing and tending to his roses. He was also a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Stirewalt will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family members include his loving wife of 58 years, Mae Perry Stirewalt; his grandchilden, Katelynn Stirewalt, of GA; Lauren Younts Uland and husband, A.J., of Germany; and Dustin Clay Younts and wife, Olivia, of Lexington, NC; his great grandson, Anthony Uland of Germany; and brothers, Vic Stirewalt of Kannapolis and Vernard Stirewalt., Charlotte.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Saturday, January 18, 2020, at the Annex Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Stirewalt will begin at 2:00 pm in the Annex Chapel, conducted by Rev. Mark Vickers.
