Obituary: Robert McKee Taylor, Jr. 82, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Liberty Lane Hospice at the VA in Salisbury, NC. Mr. Taylor was born in Cabarrus County September 30, 1932 to the late Robert Lee Taylor and Elizabeth P. Taylor. Robert served in the US. Army Airborne for 3 years; he retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service as an Air Traffic Control Supervisor. He was a member of the Air Commando Association; The Combat Control Association; Air Force Sergeants Association; The Retired Enlisted Association; Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 27; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8989; American Legion Post 51; Moose Lodge 1722; Robert was also a charter member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his sisters, Pattie Mitchell of Kannapolis and Evelyn Eller of Salisbury, NC; a brother, Alton Taylor of Charlottesville, VA; two nephews; two nieces; one great-nephew; and two great-nieces. Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Taylor. A Military funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Debra Madden officiating. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
