Rodney Lynn Hobbs

Rodney Lynn Hobbs, 60, of Easley, SC and formerly of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Rodney was born on September 25, 1960 in Washington County, Virginia to the late Bobby George Hobbs and Ella Sue McCamey Hobbs, who survives.

Rodney was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.  He worked as the South Carolina operations manager for Vulcan Materials for 39 years. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors and especially hiking. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Most of all, Rodney was a devoted family man who loved being a Papaw.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 24 years, Donna Hobbs; four children, Valerie (Brandon) Falkner, Amy (Zach) Fields, Sarah (Jared) Rooks, and Matthew Hobbs (Jordan Cochran), seven grandchildren, Emma Jackson, Andersyn, Reid, Madeline, Benjamin and Cade; mother, Ella Sue Hobbs sister, Rhonda (Carlton) Elliott and two nieces, Jessica and Kayla Elliott, who will all miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held for close friends and family from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Central Baptist Church on Saturday, February 20, 2021. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Hunter officiating. The committal will immediately follow the service at the Ridge Mausoleum at Carolina Memorial Park.
