Roger Fredrick Jordan

Obituary: Mr. Roger Fredrick Jordan, 76, of Jordan Road, went to be with our Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family following a nine-year fight with terminal cancer. He was born August 12, 1933 in Chesterfield County, SC, son of the late Mack and Martha Wallace Jordan.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War era. Following his discharge in 1955 he moved to Kannapolis to work in Cannon Mills as a fixer, a job which continued for 20 years. He later began work at Wallace Furniture Company in 1967 until his retirement in 2000. He attended Shadybrook Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Rickey Oxford. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence at Jordan Road. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the Cabarrus Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Steven Ransom, Mitchell Bostian, Brandon Ballard, Bradley Ballard, Alan Erickson and Justin Honbarrier. He was a member of numerous organizations such as the Kannapolis Lions Club, VFW Post #8989, Disabled Veteran's of America and the Moose Lodge # 1722. His hobbies included farming, fishing, going to the beach and NASCAR(following those Earnhardts' closely). The family would like to thank their special friends, David and Carolyn Stewart who were best friends, and beach buddies. Survivors include his wife of 12 years: LaDean Honbarrier Jordan of the Home, Four Daughters: JoAnn Ransom and Husband Joseph of Blackstock, SC, Crystal Bostian and Husband Scott and Teresa Ballard and Husband Curtis all of Kannapolis, and Lisa Dancy and Husband Kevin of Mt. Ulla, NC. One Son: Tony Honbarrier of Wilmington, NC, One Sister, Alice Burr of Cheraw, SC, Nine Grandchildren: Amanda Bostian, Steven Ransom, Mitchell Bostian, Brandon Ballard, Bradley Ballard, Justin Honbarrier, Brittany Honbarrier, Kayla Dancy and Kyndal Dancy. One Great Grandchild: Taylor Jordan Bostian. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He also leaves behind his beloved pet dog Tipper, and Tipper will miss his daily rides to the mailbox. In additon to his parents he was preceded in death by four Brothers: Donald Eligah Jordan, Sadiesville, Ky, Robert Lee Jordan, Cheraw, SC, James William Jordan, Jacksonville, Fl, and Sammie Clark Jordan of Cheraw, SC. Ten Sisters: Nezzie Geneva Jordan, Cheraw, SC, Addie Blanche Rollins, Cheraw, SC, Virginia Mae Rivers, Danvillle, VA., Dorothy Irene Cline, Cheraw, SC, Myrle Elease Jordan, Cheraw, SC, Shirley Bearnace Hyman, Baltimore, Md, Myrtis Jordan, Cheraw, SC, Nannie Lou Williams, Philadelphia, Pa, Grace Agnes Jordan, Cheraw, SC, And Velma Ann Kennedy, Trinity, NC.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Langsford and the Oncology Clinic at NorthEast Medical Center and Dr. Harold Thomas and his staff at Kannapolis Internal Medicine. They also wish to thank Hospice of Rowan and Cabarrus Counties, especially the nurses and Pastor John Sells and Chaplain Patty along with Dr. Allen. Another thank you to the Mt. Mitchell VFW and Shadybrook Baptist Church Family and Pastor Rick Oxford.
