Obituary: Roger Lee Jordan, 59, of 2902 Clermont Avenue, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born May 23, 1951 in Union County, NC a son of the late Julius W. and Carolyn Wallace Jordan. Roger had been employed at various textile companies until his retirement due to ill health. He was a member of Near Calvary Independent Baptist Church where he served as a greeter. He also was a lay minister at various nursing homes. He loved his dogs, Blackjack, Snowball and Sampson. He also enjoyed fishing. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Near Calvary Independent Baptist Church in Concord conducted by Rev. Mike Mullis. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday, December 18, from 6:00-9:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence. He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Judy Scercy Jordan of the home, a daughter: Toleda Dawn Jordan Lewis of Salisbury, Brothers: Dalton Mac Jordan of Kannapolis and Hal Jordan of Rockwell. Sister: Brenda Tilley of Kannapolis and four grandchildren: Clarissa Lewis Calloway of Salisbury, Michael Lewis, Jr. of the home, John John Calloway of Kannapolis, and Sebastian Calloway of Salisbury. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Ann Jordan. Memorials may be made to Near Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 274 Honeycutt Drive, SE, Concord, NC 28025-7243.
