Roger Moffitt

Obituary: Roger Dale Moffitt, 69, of Kannapolis died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Tucker Hospice House after a period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 26 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Willie Rash officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 25. Roger was born January 5, 1950 in Rowan Co., a son of the late James Moffitt and Edith Cook Moffitt Barbee. He was a life-long area resident and member of Centerview Baptist Church. In earlier years Roger worked for Cannon Mills in the plant #1, Spinning Room #7 as a beam hauler. Later he worked for Specialty Dyes of Concord. He retired in 1973 due to disability. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, James Ronald Moffitt and his grandson, James Glenn. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cathy Brown Moffitt of the home, his daughters, Susan Moffitt Salyer (Thomas Hargrove) of Durham and Bobbie Ann Moffitt of Concord, his 5 grandchildren, Gage, Dreama, Jaden, Sophie and Xavier Measmer, his brother, Richard W. Moffitt of Kannapolis, his 4 sisters, Virginia Lumley of Gastonia, Wanda Sue Barbee of Concord, Judy Ann Moore of Salisbury and Dollie Poston of Landis, as well as several nieces and nephews.
