Roger Dale Moss

Obituary: Roger Dale Moss, 70, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2017 at CHC-Northeast Medical Center. Death was unexpected. Roger was born September 8, 1946 in Iredell County, NC a son of the late William James Moss and Edith Sigmon Moss. Roger was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. He was educated at the School of the Deaf at Morganton. He received numerous basketball and football awards. He was named to the Softball Hall of Fame and acquired the alias "The Deaf Sultan of Babe Ruth". He was named the most valuable player in 1981, won the most RBIs in 1976, won the batting average titles twice, Won the 4AAADNSAD Titles with Carolina and played for Carolina for 25 years. Roger was an avid UNC fan. Roger was a die cutter for Multi Graphics for 38 years and after retirement he worked for the Red Pepper Graphics. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Parkwood Baptist Church by Rev. Bo Sherrill. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Eliza Webb Moss of the Home, two daughters, Kristy Christmas and husband Frank of Concord, their two sons; Hunter and Franklin, daughter, Lori Moss and her children Madison and Mavis, of Kannapolis, two sisters, Ruby Badger and Shelba Arrington, one niece and one nephew. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Deaf Ministry of Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr NW, Concord, NC 28027. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Moss.
