Roger L. Ritchie

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Roger L. Ritchie, age 69, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after declining health for the last 6 years and a serious illness of 2 weeks. He was born November 24, 1940 in Iredell County, NC, the son of Rosie Lee Grant Ritchie of Kannapolis and the late Norman Odell Ritchie. He was employed in maintenance with the Kannapolis City Schools system and later Cabarrus County Schools for many years until his retirement November 1, 2002. He was an avid fisherman and loved to go to area cafes to drink coffee with friends. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Ritchie and a baby sister. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Darrell Coble. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 45 years, Joyce Dudley Ritchie; his son, Roger L. Ritchie, Jr. of Kannapolis, NC; his brother, Norman Ritchie of Concord, NC.
