Roland Baity Sherrill

Obituary: Mr. Roland Baity Sherrill, 95, of 1108 Pump Station Road, Kannapolis, died on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. Mr. Sherrill was born on November 14, 1914 in Iredell County, the son of the late Ranious Monroe Sherrill and the late Minnie Houston Sherrill. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Danner Sherrill who died in 2007 and a grandson, Roland Scott and numerous brothers and sisters. Roland was a Veteran of WW-2 serving with the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for Piedmont Block Company. The funeral for Mr. Sherrill will take place at 2 P.M. Sunday, May 9th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. R.J. Hammond and Rev. T. H. Sexton. Entombment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park Crypts in China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 P.M. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Mr. Sherrill is survived by a daughter; Pasty Brown of the home. 2 granddaughters, Ginger Scott and husband, Jerry of Salisbury, NC and Robin Whitley also of Salisbury. 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Service: 2 P.M. Sunday, May 9th, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.
