Roma Talmage "Jay" Key

Roma Talmage “Jay” Key, 81, of Landis, passed away, Saturday December 14, 2024 at his son’s home.

He was born September 4, 1943 in Wilkes Co. to the late William Floyd Key and Mary Jane Roberts Key.

Jay worked for Cannon Mills for 30 Plus years before going to work as a custodian for Cabarrus County Schools, he also coached Dixie Youth Baseball for many years, he was always willing to help anyone in need, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and a die hard Tar Heels fan.

He was preceded in death by siblings; Oliver Key, Paul Key, Artie Wyatt, Martha Brewer, Linda Oliver, Sue Hart, Bob Key, Jerry Lee Key.

Those left to cherish his memory; sons Eddie Key (Cindy), Eric Key (Marsha), best friend and companion Mary Donaldson, Brothers, Homer Key, Gary Key, sister Betty Thomas, Grandchildren; Amanda Bost (Adam), Kendra Acosta (Matthew), Matthew Key, Andrew Key, Jacob Key, Jordan Key.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 17. 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Craft officiating, burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
