Ronald Eugene Barnette, age 75 of Kannapolis went to his heavenly home on August 10, 2022 after a period of declining health. Born on May 1, 1947 he was the son of the late Dorothy Lowe Barnette and Herman Mancel Barnette of Kannapolis.
Ronald graduated in 1967 from A.L. Brown High School, and was forever a Wonder fan, attending all of the football games when is health would allow him to. He worked at Fieldcrest Cannon for 40 years in the Bleachery, and later for Fluor Daniels as a maintenance mechanic. He retired from Atrium Health Cabarrus where he worked as a Valet.
Ronald enjoyed golfing, working in the yard, and Christian music. He attended Landis Baptist Church. His happiest times were when he could spend time with his special grandson, Josh Barnette. He loved taking him to Spencer to the Train Museum and Tweetsie Railroad. They loved to watch football and basketball games together on Sunday afternoons and just “hang out” together. Ronald also enjoyed spending time with his brother, Jimmy Barnette whom he was very close to.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Diane Crowell Barnette; one son, Brent and wife Lisa of Kannapolis and his beloved grandson, Josh Barnette; one brother, Jimmy Barnette; his brother in law, Danny Crowell and wife Linda of Kannapolis; three nieces, Jennifer Andersen and husband JT; Jennifer Overcash and husband Darrin; Leah Barnette; one nephew, Neil Crowell and wife Bekah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Mancel Barette and Dorothy Lowe Barnette.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Reverends’ Neil Crowell and Gene Edwards. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord. At other times the family will be at the residence.
The family would like to especially thank Dr.Mehul Patel, Dr. Nathan Woolwine, Dr. Doug Kelling and Dawn Payne, RN for their kindness love and care during his illness.
