Obituary: Ronald Eugene Baumgardner ,64, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 8, 2013 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center. Ronald was born June 8, 1949 in Washington County, Va. son of the late Jack and Margie Josephine Shuler Baumgardner. He was of the Baptist faith. Ronald was an avid fisherman and a NASCAR fan. He was veteran of Vietnam serving with the US Marine Corps. He later served with the US Army in Desert Storm. He was employed by Norfolk-Southern Railroad as a CNC operator for almost twenty years. Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jackie Ray Baumgardner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Inurnment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery with military graveside rites at a later date. Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Shirley S.Baumgardner of the home, one daughter, Rhonda (Christopher) Ward of Statesville, four step-children, Rosa Fergueson of Wilmington, Deleware, Wayne Shuler of Oxford, Pa., Deborah Weir of Defiance, Ohio, Susan Shuler of York, Pa., and one granddaughter, KyraWard. One brother,Jack Baumgardner and sister, Nancy Owens both of Chillhowee, Va. also survive. He was predeceased by a brother, James David Baumgardner. Memorials may be made to the D.A.V., P.O.
