Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Ronald Kenneth Erwin, Sr., 81, of Kannapolis, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 after a period of declining health. He was a son of the late William Parks Erwin, Sr. and the late Myrtle Reavis Erwin. Ronald was a lifelong area resident, educated in the local school system. Ronald was a 32nd degree mason and he attended the Allen Graham Lodge #49. He went to work at an early age and eventually owned and operated his own long distance Trucking Company. Later he opened a small engine repair shop. Ronald enjoyed working in his shop and going fishing with family and friends. He was also an avid sports fan. Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 24 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Chuck Overcash officiating. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. His family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Tuesday at Whitley's Funeral Home. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Eugene Erwin and two sisters, Shirley Ann Erwin Rollins and Dorothy Erwin Huie. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Ann Cress Erwin of the home, his sons; R. Kenneth Erwin, Jr. (Becky) of China Grove and Tim Erwin (Luana) of Landis, his daughter, Linda Erwin King (Greg) of Concord, his brother, Bill Erwin (Martha) of Kannapolis, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
