Ronald Ernest Jordan

d. August 11, 2015

Obituary: Ronald Ernest Jordan, age 76 of Kannapolis, was born June 13, 1939 and passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. He passed away at his home after a brief bout with Leukemia. He is survived by one son, Randall (Randy) Jordan and four daughters, Jackie Winstead, Tamelia (Tammy) Patterson, Lori Moore and Rhonda Kannenberg. He is survived by one sister, Emory Nell Deal. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Gulledge Jordan whom he married on November 14, 1959. They were married 55 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Mary Shinn Jordan. Ronald, also known as "Sweet Thang," was a welder with Cannon Mills for many years before being laid off. He took the seemingly unfortunate circumstance of being laid off to start his new career as a business owner, purchasing a couple small laundry businesses. Despite his inability to read and write, he later began purchasing properties one at a time, for rental purposes and at his death, he had acquired 18 properties. He wanted others to know that despite obstacles in their lives, there is hope. What seems like a terrible situation may later become your biggest blessing. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday, August 13th at Whitley's Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM in Whitley's Chapel officiated by Rev. James Pauley and Rev. Keith Kannenberg. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at his residence. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com and memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 904 Chipola St. Kannapolis, NC 28083
